Saskatoon’s Caswell Hill Reclaims Its Cultural Heart: ‘Art in the Park’ Returns After Six-Year Hiatus to Connect and Celebrate Community

After six years away, Art in the Park is returning to Ashworth Holmes Park – and honestly, it feels like a long time coming.

The Caswell Hill Community Association is bringing the beloved festival back on June 13th and 14th, 2026, and the whole weekend has that rare quality of feeling like something people actually need right now. What started 25 years ago as a neighbourhood gathering has grown into something much more meaningful: a reminder of why community matters, and what it feels like when a park becomes a home.

“Art in the Park embodies everything I love about this neighbourhood”

Community Association President Ty Johnston

“I stumbled upon this festival eight years ago while visiting Saskatoon and it had everything I wanted in a neighbourhood, kids It was a big part of choosing this city, specifically this neighbourhood, and moving here.”

That’s the kind of thing that’s hard to manufacture – and it’s exactly what the organisers are hoping to bring back.

The weekend unfolds across two days. Saturday evening, June 13th (5–8 PM), opens with a community gathering: live performances, a traditional neighbourhood BBQ, and a few twilight art activations to ease everyone back into it together. Sunday, June 14th (12–5 PM), is the full festival experience, with an Artist Village Market, live main stage performances, and all kinds of family programming spread through the park. The main stage lineup spans a wonderfully Saskatchewan range – the Bridge City Brass Band, the North Saskatchewan Regiment Pipes and Drums, and local favourites 5 Guys Named Dave.

Artists Anna Setyo and Julie Larson are bringing large-scale interactive flower installations that will the space in the best possible way.

There’s something genuinely thoughtful in the programming for younger visitors, too. On Saturday, acclaimed local children’s author Khodi Dill will be on hand to read from his books Welcome to the Cypher and Little Black Lives Matter as part of Kids ArtsFest and Saskatchewan Poet Laureate Peace Akintade-Oluwagbeye will be writing custom, on-demand poems for anyone who’d like a personal piece to take home.

The festival is expecting around 1,500-3,000 visitors over the two days – a big turnout for a neighbourhood event, and a sign that people have genuinely missed this. Come say hello.
